The 20th Asian Games, officially the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games,
will be held in Japan from 19 September to 4 October 2026.
The Games will feature 43 sports, with more than
11,000 athletes from 45 National Olympic Committees expected
to participate.
India has approved a contingent of 492 athletes for the Games,
comprising 265 men and 227 women. Athletics is India's largest
delegation, with 73 athletes. The contingent also includes athletes competing
in sports such as shooting, badminton, boxing, wrestling, cricket, kabaddi,
skateboarding and sport climbing.
India achieved its best-ever Asian Games medal tally at Hangzhou 2022,
winning 107 medals — 28 gold, 38? silver and 41 bronze.
Several established Indian athletes will compete in Aichi-Nagoya, including
Neeraj Chopra, who will seek a third consecutive Asian Games
gold medal in men's javelin. India will also defend its men's and women's
cricket and men's and women's kabaddi titles from Hangzhou.
India's medal prospects will depend on performances across established
strengths such as athletics, shooting, badminton, wrestling, boxing and
other sports. However, any prediction that India will cross a particular
