Asian Games 2026 — India Wins Historic Gold in Women’s Trap

Indian shooter Neeru Dhanda won the gold medal in the women’s individual trap event at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on 29 September 2026.
Neeru Dhanda, a 26-year-old shooter from Haryana, produced an outstanding performance in the women’s trap final, scoring 28 hits out of 30. Her score broke the previous Asian Games record of 24. Earlier in the day, Neeru had also helped India win silver in the women’s trap team event, along with Aashima Ahlawat and Manisha Keer. The Indian trio scored 328 points, finishing behind China. Neeru’s achievement is particularly significant because before her victory, no Indian woman had won an individual medal in trap or skeet shooting at the Asian Games. She is also only the second Indian to win an individual Asian Games gold in trap, after Randhir Singh, who won the men’s trap gold in 1978.
